What is the Problem?

For a while now, you and your husband have been saying that there is a problem. Fundamental reading difficulties are never outgrown. Reading is the cornerstone of all subject areas and success at all levels of education is based on the solid ability to read. The time to act on a suspected reading difficulty is the moment you think there is one. Remember, it is never too late to learn with the right support and tools.

When you bring your child to Beacon Literacy, we do the preliminary testing with both the child and the parent(s) present. Once it has been determined that there is a difficulty with reading, a testing expert works with the child for a more in-depth assessment. Meanwhile, Lani Donaldson, the owner, meets with the parent(s) because we want to hear what you have to say about your child and the fears that you have dealing with this situation.

At Beacon, we believe that the parent is the expert on their child; we’re the experts on the process to learn to read. And that is why you are involved with the process every step of the way. When a child is enrolled in the Beacon Literacy program, that child is given 20 weeks of one-on-one attention.
